Teen Stylin'

There is an explosion of styles for teenagers now available in kidswear.

Many designers are looking at their own offspring getting larger and have started scaling up, offering sizes between 14 and 16 instead of ending at 12 years old.

This is happening because the expansion of kids wear into a designer led shopping experience began around 15 - 20 years ago.

Enticed by the new possibilities, a lot of experienced fashion business mums entered the business then which means they now have teenagers to dress and these are teens with very firm opinions on how they want to look and a taste for quality fabrics and cut that won’t be satisfied by chain store merchandise.

Also we see a lot of the big labels keen to keep their favourite customers onside catering to the teen demographic as well with a size 16 that will easily fit a slim adult too. Some of the big names available at this age range are Bonpoint, MSGM, DSquared2, Molo and the US independent Miss L. Ray.

Styling is sophisticated but not overly sexy, strong looks come from bold print and luxe fabrication with a slight street vibe from cool accessories and loose fit. See some of our favourite items for teens below.
